The Apalachicola River makes up the eastern border of Calhoun County. The Apalachicola River is a well-known river that starts Georgia as the Chattahoochee, then runs all the way down into Florida and into the Gulf of Mexico. The Chipola River is also a well know tributary of the Apalachicola River located in Calhoun County, there you can rent kayaks, go tubing, and fishing. The Dead Lakes in southern Calhoun County, is also another well known body of water that it shares with neighboring Gulf County. In the city of Blountstown, you can explore the 18 different historical buildings and structures, located at the Panhandle Pioneer Settlement. The settlement offers insight into life in the 1800s and represents the county’s pride and effort in the conservation of their history.
